如今安裝網絡攝像機大部分是用網絡傳輸且常用CAT5e和CAT6。如果是百兆網絡系統走CAT5e，千兆網絡系統走CAT6。
網絡監控攝像機安裝選用什麼材質的雙絞線
市場上常見的雙絞線材質一般為合金、高導鋁、高導銀、純銅，以及無氧銅。
合金主要材質是鐵，價格最低，質量也是最差。
高導鋁，即（銅包鋁），以鋁質為主，容易氧化，氧化後電阻會變大，因此用高導鋁網線安裝監控，使用一段時間後會出現時有時無信號的問題。
高導銀，同樣是以鋁為主，但材料中並沒有銀，質量比高導鋁要好些。
純銅，質量要比鋁好些，但電阻依然較大。
無氧銅，目前國標最好的網線，安裝監控系統時盡量選擇這種網線。
購買雙絞線時，除了選擇比較有名的品牌網線，還需要自己用萬用表測量雙絞線電阻。一箱網線正常是300米（實際是305左右），整箱測試電阻，CAT5e電阻值為27~30Ω，CAT6在21~24Ω。
另外，網線可靠傳輸距離為100米左右，千萬不要超過這一距離，否則信號會因為網線傳輸距離延長而衰減，導致數據包丟失。
